Dopamine
A rewrite of the original American Pokémon cartoon theme
[The original American Kanto saga theme, the movie version, sung by Jason Paige…this is my inspiration. But, a rewrite of the shorter TV version is what I am currently sharing here. The concept is how saving and collecting various things supposedly stimulates and accumulates dopamine in the brain just to remain content/happy. If we compare the need/chase for dopamine to Pokémon…well, here ya go.]
Play the above while reading the new lyrics.
I WANNA HAVE THE VERY BEST, LIKE PROMOTERS ON YOUTUBE.
I’LL FILL A HOME WITH MY FAVORITES, COLLECTING LIKE A NOOB.
I WILL EXPLORE THE INTERNET, SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW.
‘NO TELLING WHERE IT WILL END OR HOW FAR I WILL GO.
CHORUS:
DOPAMINE!
IT’S YOU I CHASE.
I KNOW I DON’T HAVE THE SPACE.
OH. YOU’RE MY ONLY FRIEND WHEN THE WORLD JUST WANTS TO END.
DOPAMINE!
(GOTTA COLLECT IT ALL!)
THE HURT’S SO TRUE.
MY MEMORIES WILL CARRY ME THROUGH.
YOU PLEASE ME, AND I’LL LOVE YOU!
DO-PA-MINNNE!
GOTTA COLLECT IT ALL! GOTTA COLLECT IT AAAALL!
DO-PA-MINE!
If you have any suggestions for a change of lyrics or any interest in having me write a more complete version of this song (in other words, the fuller movie version), say so in your comment below. Also…if you’d like to hear me attempt to sing the Dopamine (or even the Pokémon theme) myself, let me know and be clear about it; don’t just hit LIKE or say DO IT. I want a more thoughtful approach.
